Who we are

To respond to the challenges facing the pharmaceutical industry, Sanofi business strategy is based on three key themes to reach and deliver sustainable growth:

Through focusing on patients’ needs, we aim to become the most productive R&D organization in the healthcare sector. To do this, we have carried out a complete review of our portfolio. 
Moving forward, we will evolve our decision-making process, creating an innovative and dynamic organization, developing a clear strategy to tap into the best science around the world.

Adapting our structures to meet the challenges of the future

The crucial questions facing our industry are clear: “How can we change the model? How can we create more sustainable growth?” To answer these questions, we have to identify the resources and the competencies we need to grow. We are growing in markets as diverse as the patients themselves. New technologies open new avenues of research. Vaccines, biologicals, branded generics and consumer healthcare (OTC) require Sanofi teams to move out of the classical pharmaceutical mindset. Our company has a history of adapting to opportunity and we will build upon this strength.

Exploring external growth opportunities

The reasons why we must diversify: classic small molecule pharmaceuticals, our core business activity, are vulnerable to patent expiry. 
We aim to build business activities like vaccines, consumer healthcare, branded generics, to create a basis for more sustainable growth. We will of course maintain our pharmaceutical business, but we will also reply to future global healthcare challenges with a broader platform of offerings, which are more affordable and accessible to patients with fewer economic resources.

We put patients at the heart of our activities with the aim of improving their lives, today and tomorrow.

As a global diversified healthcare company, Sanofi has a wide range of prevention and treatment solutions to fit the individual needs of patients. Listening to our patients must inform all our decisions and actions: we must understand patient needs and what healthcare providers and payers require, then define what we can bring to them.

Not only are we looking for more effective and safer solutions to improve human health, but also for more affordable and cost-effective therapies to which all patients will have access. We develop an innovative approach to provide sustainable access to medicines to people in emerging countries.

One way of translating our commitment into reality is by forging partnerships with patient associations. This helps us better understand the needs and expectations of patients through dialog and exchange of know-how. We partner with patient associations to help address the broader issues along the patient journey, such as prevention, awareness and living and coping better with medical conditions.

Sanofi recognizes the crucial importance of patient-centered healthcare and ensuring that patient needs are placed at the center of healthcare policy discussions, irrespective of therapeutic area or specific geography.
