Collectively making a difference through employee outreach
Joy in Outreach (www.sanoficsr.in) is an employee volunteering platform connecting employees with NGOs in the areas of environment, education, old age welfare and differently-abled, among others. The unique aspect of this platform is that it bridges our intent to support the communities with the personal preferences of our employees. It also allows like-minded employees to form teams to serve the community in unison.
Daan Utsav: Every October, ‘Daan Utsav’ - India’s annual festival of giving, brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate and spread the joy of giving. In 2017, 730 employees at Sanofi India volunteered to be a part of the tree plantation drive, and engaged in cricket and art & craft activities with children from 15 NGOs across the country.
Reducing health inequalities around our manufacturing sites
Close to our plant in Goa, we regularly conduct health camps in schools with the help of a team of medical professionals to check immunization status, nutritional deficiencies, personal hygiene and other chronic diseases. Those needing urgent attention are counseled and sent for further treatment to Government Hospitals, and follow ups are enabled.
In Ankleshwar, we have associated with SEWA Rural hospital for blood sugar level testing of the local community.
Blood Donation for Thalassemia at Shantha Biotechnics
Patients suffering from specific health conditions, such as Thalassemia, require blood transfusion on a regular basis. Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder in which the body makes an abnormal form of haemoglobin, requiring a patient to undergo blood transfusion once in every 15 to 20 days.
In order to extend support to these patients, Shantha Biotechnics – an affiliate of Sanofi Pasteur – organizes a blood donation camp every year. In 2018, we collated 317 units of blood from all our employees.
